DOGS DON'T USE COOKIES
Dogs don't use cookies, pats or praise
in their culture. Dogs are physical: they lick, they bite, they push, they
shove and they poke. Instead use Dingo Lingo; the dog's own language, culture
and customs to educate and rehabilitate. Not cookies or clickers or collars and
leashes.

HOW DOGS GROW
UP
Dogs grow up
slow. They need time to ripen and reach their full potential. A dog is sexually
mature at 6 months of age, a dog is physically mature at 18 months of age, and
dog is mentally mature at 24 months of age, and a dog reaches full emotional
maturity is 36 months.

FROM TOGETHERNESS TO ONENESS
To really know your dog you have to
grow up with a dog as your brother or sister. The essence is the
interrelating of all interests. Only in this way can simple togetherness be
transformed into oneness, which comes from a desire to share their best with
the dog.

THE WORLD BEAT
In
the womb, before you have a brain, your heart finds the rhythm of the world and
keeps the beat. when you die; when your brain is dead, the heart tries to keep
up with the World Beat until the very last. The heart sends out it's beat, it's
signal, it's signature song; the heart song. And that is what I tune into as a
dog whisperer. The heart with the strongest, truest, purest, best beat rules,
so I make my beat the strongest. So, the first tool of a a dog whisperer is a
pure heart. Ami Moore The Dog Whisperer

There is a "dark side" to the nature of dogs. I say that

WHAT DOGS LEARN
Dogs learn what they live, and then they live what they
learn. Anon.
I AM THE DOG
WHISPERER
I am often
asked by potential students to define “dog whisperer” for them. On
occasion, I’d take 2 minutes and other times I’d take 60, trying to
condense this complicated term into a facile definition. Due to my own personal
frustration in finding a complete definition of dog whispering, I finally just
decided to sit down and really create a guide that would fully explain dog
whispering; what it is, what it ain‘t, to everyone‘s
satisfaction, especially mine!
I am the Dog Whisperer. All too often I see you after
a traumatic experience with your dog, when you are scared and upset. You call
me to rescue you from chaos and insanity, but it is already too late.
Your life is in shambles, the neighbors hate you, a
child is disfigured, the victim is pressing charges, the police are at the
door, and your home is at risk. I, however, can't turn back the
hands of time and prevent the fatal attack, but I can help you and your family
move forward and plan for tomorrow. I am the Dog Whisperer.
When your heart is broken, I'm quickly on the scene. I
will repair the lost hope; rekindle the loving feeling that you once had toward
your dog. In time, I will help you learn to trust your dog again, and I
will help you dog learn to trust in you once more. I am the Dog Whisperer.
Sometimes you are frustrated with the inconvenience
and expense of having to hire me. But when you call, I will be right there with
the tools and training to resolve your dog training concern so that you, your
family and your community can feel safe and secure. I am the Dog Whisperer.
I am available to help you house train your little
Christmas puppy. I am there to place the missing obedience training on your out
of control, hormonally driven adolescent dog so that he can stop jumping up on
Grandma.
We can help the shelter or rescue dog fit into your
lifestyle easily, safely and sanely. Even though you may have picked a dog that
does not fit in with your lifestyle: it's too big, too mean, too hyper, with my
training and gentle touch, I can make sure that the dog learns to follow your
direction. I am the Dog Whisperer.
In the best of all worlds, you will call me to help
you with your new spring time puppy, you'd call me to help you pick the right
dog from the shelter and you'd call me to so that I could talk you out of
purchasing that puppy from the pet store. I offer products and services
to help protect that which is yours. I read magazines, attend seminars
and belong to trade groups so that I can increase my knowledge and my ability
to help you solve your problems. I am the Dog Whisperer.
I am a Dog Whisperer. I am a psychologist, a teacher,
a poet, a shaman, an artist, a preacher, a parent. I deal with people that are
upset and dogs that are upset; I calm the savage beast within each one of you.
I have been trained to secure and protect your children, your home, your assets
and even your life. I have devoted my life to help you have the American
Dream; a happy family with a happy dog.
Who Am I? I am an Animal Rights Activist. I believe
that animals have the right to be educated so that they can fit into our modern
life. I believe that it is inhumane and immoral to have an untrained,
uneducated dog that is a danger to the family and the community. Our domestic
dog has the right to have the kindest, the best, the most effective, most
humane training tools and methods used for their education, so that every dog
in America can have the greatest of gifts; a good and loving home.
Who Am I? I am a Pro-Choice Activist.
People have the right to have all training tools and training methods at their
disposal so that they can make an informed choice as to what tools, techniques
and tips will work best with their dog, their lifestyle and their
personality.
Who Am I? I am a
Pro-Life Activist. I believe that murdering dogs for bad behavior when a
particular training tool or training technique fails them. If one training tool
or technique fails, then the dog and the owner have the right to seek relief
and rehabilitation from other dog professionals that may use alternative
techniques.
Who Am I? I am Pro-Traditional
Family Values. Good families deserve to own good dogs. Good dogs are dogs that
are well-mannered, tolerate children, are polite to strangers and do not poop,
pee or bite where or when it is inappropriate. Good dogs create good
families, good families create good neighborhoods, and good neighborhoods
create good cities.
Who Am I? I support Breed
Tolerance. All breeds can be trained and educated to be good family members,
good community members and assets to our modern life. I despise Breed Bigots,
the radical elements in American society that claim a dog’s breed matters
more than his behavior. Punish the deed, don’t exterminate the breed.
Who Am I? I
am against “The Culture of Death” pushed by PETA, HSUS, ALF, ELF
and other domestic animal rights al-queada groups. These groups are committed
to the complete extermination of the domestic dog in good, loving, American
families.
Who Am I? I defer to
Mother Nature, for she always knows best. The best way to rehabilitate a dog is
to treat it like a dog, not like us. The dog is born on to this planet to
experience life as a dog, not a person. Mother Nature is always right, always
appropriate and never makes mistakes. So if you communicate with a dog in his
language respecting the particulars of his dog culture, then a good dog is
always the result.
Who Am I? I am a Fido Freedom Fighter: I believe
that dogs think and feel much like people do. I do not believe that the dog is
a unthinking, unfeeling, “black box” that operates on a
simple reward/punishment paradigm. I know that the dog dreams, the dog
remembers, the dog thinks and that the dog has a soul; in his own doggie
way. I believe that dogs deserve to have as much freedom as good manners
and good grooming will allow them in our modern lives, which means well
mannered dogs should be allowed everywhere. I believe that good dog training
should not be a crime. I am the Dog Whisperer.

THE LINE FOR PUBLIC ACCESS FOR DOGS
> Where is the line between 'thou shall not bring
dogs here to this public place' and 'I'd prefer not to interact with dogs here
in this public place'? It may behoove us to know the difference, and respect
it.>
The line lies at my side, in heel
position. If I have my dog with me in a public place where it is
either allowed regularly or if I've obtained permission, that's just where I
expect her to stay.
Anyone not caring to
interact with her does not have to do so. They don't have to pet her or touch
her, and she will not reach out and touch anyone without getting my permission
first.
But if someone is going
to get upset because of the mere PRESENCE of my dog, that’s tough. As
long as I have to put up with screaming babies and children running around like
wild animals in restaurants and airplanes, not to mention certain perfumes
which some ladies wear (and men, on occasion) which cause me an instant
migraine, I will be the first to remind folks that things are not always the
way we want them.
At least my dogs are
housebroken and quiet, which is more than I can say for most babies I've
encountered. And they won't kick the back of your airplane seat for 4 hours,
either.
There are folks out there who are so phobic about dogs,
they'll literally scream when they see one in the hotel lobby, walking nicely
with you on your way through the building. I've had it happen. That is not
normal. I learned a long time ago not to brake for neurotics. Really. If the
mere sight of a nice, well-trained dog sends you shrieking because it's under
the same roof as yourself (or even quietly ruins your day), you've got a bigger
problem than my removing the dog will fix.
DO
respect people's rights to not be jumped upon, growled at, barked
at, slobbered on or bitten, or to be exposed to skin parasites or disease or to
be stepping in dog poop. My dogs consistently bring people much more joy than
distress, so why should one unfortunate person with a phobia send them to the
lock-up? Tracy Doyle, D.O.T., Northern Illinois Dog

DOGS ARE REMINDERS
Before we are
born, the angels press a finger to our lips and tell us, "Remember, remember,
don't forget what you know." But, angels know people. They have
sent the dog to us, to help us to remember what we once knew. Dogs are carriers
of the message. But they won't argue with you, or plead with you to listen to
them. They will just be themselves, reflecting your true spiritual nature,
until you notice that you don't like the picture. Ami Moore the DW
THE WRONG REASON TO GET A DOG
Many people get
dogs to solve an unresolved problem from their childhood. They are seeking an
external solution to an internal problem. Very, very bad for the dog.
These folks have a great, big, hot,
stinky, smoldering pit where a heart should be, and they want to get a dog to
stuff in there, so it doesn't hurt so much. Never works 'cause dogs can't
handle the negative energy.
A dog can't give you the validation that
should've come from your mother or father. A dog can't say, "You are okay, you
are important, you are loveable, you are worth being cherished."

WISDOM WITHIN
"A dog is the
physical manifestation of instinct, learning, reflexes, drives, sensitivities
and the cunning ways of the wild. Every puppy carries the universe within
him, in his wolfish DNA. Humans have artificial know-how. Dogs have
wisdom. Dog wisdom is stored inside the blood, bones; in nose, ears,

carries the universal canine unconscious within him. It is my job to plug-into
the wisdom within". Ami Moore the Chicago Dog Whisperer
THE GOOD DOG WITHIN
The "Good
Dog" within has to be created, depending on your dog's age and temperament,
this is much like an artist creating a work of art. The medium
matters. Puppies are like clay; soft, delicate, moldable,
impressionable. Puppies need lots of molding-handling-support, in order to
withstand the rigors of modern life, they need to be "fired and glazed" with
leadership, education and activity. Older dogs are like a piece of fine
marble; the "Good Dog" is within, and it is my job to gently chip away at the
bad behavior that hides the good dog from sight.

THE CRATE: Mother's

"The crate is
used as help. It helps bridges two levels of responsibility for the dog;
total freedom and total management. It helps the dog do right, think right,
feel right, and act right. When the dog shows you that he no longer needs
"help" to remember his potty training, how to greet guests, how to behave
around children, what to do when food is around; then he no longer needs the
bridge. Until that day, that day when he no longer needs
'help' to get it right; be kind, not cruel, and use the
crate."

THE CRAZIES AND THE
COWARDS
The dog's that have my
sympathy, are the dog's that are owned by the crazies. These are
sometimes women of almost any age, on occasion a man, who own a small, fluffy
dog that they treat as if it is a human baby.
For this person the dog's primary purpose is to exist
as an emotional surrogate. The dog is a crutch used to support the owner's
neurotic tendencies. People who feel unloved, unneeded or unnoticed tend to
direct their fear, anxiety, rage and insecurity at the dog. It appears as if
they have this huge gaping hole in their spirit and they try to fill it up with
a dog. It is as if they are drowning and they are holding onto the dog
for dear life. The problem for the dog is this; it ends up dead.
When they visit a dog trainer or behaviorist, every
suggestion to treat the dog as a dog, and thus to create a calm, balanced,
cooperative nature in the dog is met with wild-eyed hysteria; bug eyes, slack
jaws, flared nostrils, all the while clutching the dog to their heaving chest,
screeching at the top of their voice:
That's so MEAN.
I feel GUILTY.
I can't do that to my "BABY".
You wouldn't do that to a human, so you can't do
that to my "BABY".
My "BABY" needs lots of LOVE.
That won't be FUN for ME.
That's not why I got "MY BABY"..
I WOULDN'T like that if I had to do that.
That is so CRUEL.
I want to raise "MY BABY" the way that I WANT.
My "BABY" won't LOVE ME if I do that.
This owner creates an unstable mind in the dog with a
smothering, neurotic, permissive attitude. Unfortunately, the dog always
reflects the owners mental, emotional, and spiritual state, thus the dog
becomes hideous, monstrous, and even dangerous.
Then, the owner's life
changes; they get married, get divorced, get pregnant, get a job, get therapy,
get medicated, get thin, get new carpeting or whatever, and the dog becomes an
expendable nuisance. Since the owner no longer "feels" unloved, unneeded,
unnoticed; he or she no longer needs the dog. But, the dog is ruined. So the
dog ends up dead.

THE DIFFERENCE
BEWEEN PRAISE AND PETTING
Petting must
start in your heart, before it comes out your fingers. And I go on to tell my
classes how it must be administered, "Think backrub. If you don't know what
backrub is supposed to feel like, get naked, lie down, I'll show you." I guess
they all know. Nobody has ever stripped at class.
Praise is a
different thing entirely. It also must start in the heart. That's so the mouth
will know how to let it out.
Praise can be
soft or not.
It can be
urgent or cajoling.
It can be
patient.
It can be
pleading.
It can be
many things, but it must be what the dog needs at the moment.
Petting is
reward. Praise is help.

and with each other. Wolves play tag. They hide and jump out at
each other for no apparent reason except to have fun. Maybe the domestication
of the wolf had less to do with the wolf's ability to guard a cave, or make a
tasty snack, or chase the moose; rather than his playful spirit. Maybe we
wanted the wolf around because he made the women and children laugh. Ami Moore

LAUGHING DOGS
"Dogs laugh,
but they laugh with their tails. What puts man in a higher state of evolution
is that he has got his laugh on the right end."
- Max Eastman
A GREAT DOG
A really
companionable and indispensable dog is an accident of nature, a freak. You
can't get it by breeding for it, you can't go out looking for it, and you can't
buy it with money. This dog just happens along. It's a dog you choose "by
heart." Ami Moore the Dog Whisperer

A DOG TELLS YOU "NO!"

knew better." - George Bird Evans
WAGGING TAIL?

WORK

In order to train a good dog
well, you need "The Hill" or "The River" or "The Sea" or "The Forest."

THE
CONFESSION
In many ways,
I am like priest or rabbi or a girly Dr. Phil. It is my job to come into your
home and to extract the confession. The confession is that you, the dog owner,
are responsible for the dog that you have created.
Then, you
must concede that what you were doing before has not worked, is not working
now, and you are ready and willing to change your system. Finally, I can get to
work. We can rehab the dog.

WHAT IS A DOG
WHISPERER
"A dog whisperer communicates
with the dog on the most concrete and physical, the most primal, the most real
of levels, the gut: stay alive and reproduce.
The dog owner tends to relate to the dog from the
heart, in an emotional and abstract manner: cookies, kuddles and kisses.
The veterinarian, the scientist, the animal
behaviorist, dog counselor, canine therapist tend to relate to the dog
intellectually, academically, and without passion; from the head.
Dogs, however, operate from the gut first, and the
heart second. They are unable to operate from the intellect until the
first two levels have been breached.
Remember, dogs are what they sense and feel, not what
they think. You have to meet a dog where he lives, his gut and then where
he loves, his heart." Ami Moore the Dog Whisperer
HE IS NOT THAT INTO
YOU!
So many women
go out of their way to lavish, love, treats, pets and kisses on their dog, and
yet at the end of the day, "The dog is just not in to them".
Loser-tude does not work on men or dogs.

DOGS AND
BALANCE
When I train a dog, I want to
restore balance. With the owner, I restore order with Alpha-tude, Amiability,
Activity and Affection.
MORE WHOA OR MORE GO
In regard to the dog, I find
that some dogs have more whoa than go, or more go than whoa; some dogs are too
sticky, and some dogs are too loose. Too much is a problem and too little is a
problem.
The dog must learn these
skills in order to be balanced: to come, to go;
to get, to give; to get down
and to get back. These are indications of submission, surrender and
serenity. Ami Moore the Dog Whisperer

TREAT
TRAINING
Treat training appeals to the
dogs dark, carnal nature. "Tap and Tell" activates the dogs 'angel' nature.
It is like the difference for men between "love" and
"lust." These two different states of mind occupy very different parts of
the human male's brain.
Lust is animalistic, carnal,
base, dark; while love activates all of the parts of man and dog that were made
by the Divine.

CLICKER
TRAINING and CALMING SIGNALS
...I am absolutely, totally
and completely against clicking for calming signals. You can do it, but
then they are not calming signals anymore - they are just tricks, and as
tricks they can be OK as such, but are completely useless as automatic, inborn
signals used out of the emotions dogs may have at the moment.
The
danger about it is that the dogs get frustrated about their own language. I
have so far never seen a good result of clicking for calming signals, they
are used so automatically that the dogs do not even know they are using them
sometimes, so the clicking will often be associated with totally different
things: like looking at, standing still, or whatever.
Do not mess with
nature. Let dogs use their language without us trying to improve it or whatever
it is we are doing.... Turid Rugass
CLICKER
TRAINING = EMOTIONAL ABUSE
...So also with clicker
training, which in many cases is too stressful for dogs. I do not say
always, but often, and taking away possible stress triggers means clicker
training also should go together with all the other possible stress
factors.
Try to go through being clicker trained yourself, and you
will understand what I mean. It feals awful, and very
stressful. Often. And again I do not say always.
You are thinking very logically, but this has also to
do with emotions, and the expectations, and
the uncertainty of what is being wanted, is the
highest stress factor in clicker training. Some can take some
of it, but observing dogs being clicker trained, I see more dogs
being stressed by it than not. Turid Rugass
WOLVES AND
THE CIRCLE OF LIFE
Weak, lame, or unstable wolves
are removed from the pack ruthlessly. If they aren't killed outright by pack
members, they are cast-out to live on their own, where they usually starve.
People on the other hand tend to want to keep the
weak, sick, insane or unstable dogs alive and even breed from them, and this
contributes to the destruction of the dog. Ami Moore, DW
RULES,
LIMITATIONS AND THE WAY OF THE WOLF
Wolfs
cherish peace and young wolves fighting in the pack are disciplined swiftly and

willingness to remove weak, sick, unstable or insame members for the greater
good. Ami Moore, DW
